Iowa Central men's basketball couldn't overcome a late stretch in the second half in which Kirkwood made 5 straight three pointers in a narrow 85-79 defeat on Saturday in Cedar Rapids. In a game that was back and forth for much of it, Iowa Central lost a couple Kirkwood shooters in crunch time and that was the difference in the game. "For 35 minutes it was a back and forth game, but Kirkwood got loose a couple times late and made some big shots. We got lost on defense and that was the difference. I thought we did a lot of good things but in a close game, you can't afford mistakes like we did. Said Dennis Pilcher, Iowa Central head coach. "I thought we played hard but in the end it was our mistakes that hurt us."
