Iowa Central picked fifth in the ICCAC

Over the past decade, six different teams have claimed regional titles from the ICCAC. Included in the bunch is Iowa Central, which has two crowns.

This year, the coaches have tabbed Kirkwood as the preseason favorite, with the Tritons coming in fifth overall after placing second a season ago.

Des Moines Area, Southeastern and North Iowa Area are ranked ahead of Iowa Central and head coach Eric Stein.

The Tritons went 19-9 last year in the conference and finished 33-20 overall. They were the 2017 league champions.

A handful of key returning players are back from that team including Nathin Mortimer, Jayden Maifeld and Nic Anderson-Vine. Iowa Central also has sophomores Ryan Wickman and Ryan Doran to help the team compete for another title.

First action for the Tritons will be February 21 when they head to Northeastern Oklahoma-Enid.
