Nolan Johnson will remember his time at Iowa Central as the building blocks for what comes in the future.

Johnson, a former standout at Southeast Valley, had his sophomore season. Still, he credits the school and the Triton baseball program for helping him reach his next goal: Concordia University.

"My two years at Iowa Central allowed me to build a strong foundation that I can carry on the rest of my life," he said. "Being here taught me how to manage my time while working hard at different areas in my life."

The right-hander from Moorland was nearly perfect through four appearances this spring, striking out 13 batters in just over 12 innings of work. He allowed five hits and only one earned run. 

"During this time, Iowa Central helped me grow a ton as a baseball player and student," Johnson said. "The coaching staff played a huge role in me being able to continue playing, and also in making me into the person I am today.

"They pushed me and my teammates every day and I am a much better player and person because of them."

As a freshman, Johnson made six appearances with two starts, going 2-0 with 10 strikeouts on the mound. 

Now, he will shift his focus to his next stop with Concordia.

"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to continue to play at Concordia," he said. "It is a place where I know that I will continue to grow in all areas of life."
