Tritons drop wild one in Millington

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Iowa Central baseball team dropped a tough 13-11 decision to Mineral Area here Friday afternoon.

After falling in a 7-4 hole, the Tritons (1-2 overall) battled back, taking the lead with four in the seventh and three more in the eighth. Mineral Area, though, plated three runs in the ninth to tie it and two winning runs in the 10th.

Gavin Baker was 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs scored and a homer run while Derek Kay also hit a homer. Ben DeTaeye and Max Holy each had a double.

DeTaeye, Nate Mortimer, Ben Gallaher and Jack Sievers had two hits each with Kay driving in three runs. DeTaeye had two RBI while Mortimer, Holy and Gallaher had one each.

Easton Dermody got the start on the mound, striking out seven over four-plus innings. Baker added four strikeouts in relief.

Iowa Central returns to action here on Saturday with games against UA Rich Mountain and Glen Oaks. They are also set to play Triton College on Sunday before returning home.
