Tritons record split on the road

WEST BURLINGTON - A day after dropping two games to Southeastern, the Iowa Central baseball team answered back to record a split here Monday.

The Tritons won the first game, 10-5, before falling in the nightcap, 4-3.

Easton Dermody went the distance in the opener, striking out six. Derek Kay, Nate Mortimer and Gavin Baker all connected on home runs for Iowa Central.

Kay finished with three RBI, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jalen Martinez had two hits and Mortimer drove in two. 

Ryan Wickman and Martinez each stole a base with Devin Hurdle and Max Holy also driving in a run. 

In the second game, Ben DeTaeye, Holy and Baker all hit a homer with Mortimer recording two hits. Jace Davidson pitched five strong innings, striking out nine with three hits allowed. 

Iowa Central heads to Estherville on Wednesday to face Iowa Lakes.
