Tritons sweep Des Moines Area

BOONE - The 17th-ranked Iowa Central baseball team picked up a sweep over Des Moines Area here Saturday, 9-3 and 4-2, to stretch their win streak to four in a row.

John Klein once again was masterful on the hill, going the full seven innings with six strikeouts, five hits allowed and no earned runs in the opener.

Nate Mortimer had two hits and drove in a run, Jack Sievers had two hits and scored, and both Ben DeTaeye and Max Holy had an RBI. 

DeTaeye and Kai Reum combined on a three-hitter in the second game, with DeTaeye going six without allowing a hit. He struck out six and Reum four over the final three innings.

At the plate, Mortimer had a three-run homer with Holy driving in two. Ryan Wickman had two hits and two runs, and both DeTaeye and Sievers scored twice. Wickman and Jalen Martinez each stole a base.

Iowa Central closed the game strong, scoring seven runs in the final three innings. 

Another doubleheader is set for Sunday between these two teams.
