Dominating win, walk-off for Tritons

Saturday saw a little bit of everything for the Iowa Central baseball team.

After posting a convincing 18-3 victory in five innings here over Southwestern at Ed Barbour Field, the Tritons claimed a thrilling 3-2 win on a walk-off by Ben DeTaeye that scored Max Holy.

The doubleheader also featured the return of two key pieces in DeTaeye and pitcher Devon Schewe

Schewe picked up the win on the mound, coming in to pitch the final inning with two strikeouts.

Brock Johnson was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored as Lane Glaser pitched six innings with three strikeouts and Kai Reum gave Iowa Central (27-15 overall, 19-11 in ICCAC) two innings and struck out three on the mound. Schewe did not allow a hit or walk a batter in his inning of work.

Devin Hurdle and Derek Kay each stole a base.

In the opener, John Klein went all five innings, striking out a pair after being given an early lead thanks to homers by Hurdle, Kay and Holy.

Hurdle went 3-for-4 with five RBI and a run scored, Ryan Wickman, Johnson, DeTaeye and Kay each had two hits with Johnson and Kay scoring three times each. Kay also stole two bases and Wickman one.
