Tritons, Eagles split on the diamond

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Central baseball team picked up a split with Kirkwood here on Saturday.

After falling in the opener, 10-5, the Tritons rebounded with a 19-8 win in seven innings.

Jack Sievers provided the big bat on offense, going 4-for-4 and hitting for the cycle with six RBI and four runs scored. Derek Kay also hit a homer with Brock Johnson going 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Ben Gallaher and Kay drove in three runs each, with Ryan Wickman, Gavin Baker, Devin Hurdle, Gallaher and Kay all scoring twice.

Kai Reum earned the win, striking out seven over four-plus innings of work on the mound for Iowa Central. 

Kay had another home run in the loss, driving in two. Gallaher also drove in a pair and had two hits. 

The Tritons and Eagles meet again on Sunday for two more games.
