Tritons push win streak to nine

PALOS HILLS, Ill. - Ahead of their home opener, the 18th-ranked Iowa Central baseball team finished off their second four-game sweep of an opponent here Monday.

The Tritons won twice on Sunday (7-1, 15-3) and followed those victories up with wins on Monday (11-1, 14-5) over Moraine Valley.

In the third game of the four-game series, Easton Dermody, Ryan Linkletter and Jack Van Camp combined on a no-hitter. Trey Morris and Jalen Martinez each had a home run in the game, with Morris driving in four.

Brett Sears picked up another victory to begin the series, striking out 18 batters while allowing just two hits. Martinez had two hits and drove in a run, and Morris plated two. 

John Klein struck out nine over five innings in the second game as Max Holy hit a homer. Evan Borst scored three times and stole two bases, with Jarod Cook also hitting a home run.

In the finale, Morris was 4-for-5 at the plate, while Teige Lethert, Holy and Martinez all hit homers. Matthew Wilkinson struck out eight in just two-plus innings of work on the mound.

The Tritons will face Southwestern on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
