Win streak reaches dozen for Tritons

The 18th-ranked Iowa Central baseball team pushed their win streak to 12 in a row with a sweep over Minnesota West here Saturday afternoon at Ed Barbour Field.

Scores were 16-1 and 11-1. 

The Tritons (18-4 overall) have not allowed more than a run in any of their last three games and have now scored over 10 runs in six straight. 

John Klein and Andrew Boeser were the winning pitchers. Klein struck out eight over four innings in the opener, allowing just three hits. 

Max Holy was 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot, scoring three runs with two RBI and a homer. Isaac Becker also went yard, driving in five. Brock Johnson and Evan Borst had two hits, with Borst stealing two bases and scoring twice.

Noah Susong scored twice and drove in two, while Caleb Corbin also had a pair of RBI. 

Iowa Central plated five runs in the first and nine in the fourth.

Boeser started the second game, striking out six over his three innings. Easton Dermody struck out the side and Borst had two strikeouts on the mound. 

Jacob Barton and Jalen Martinez each hit home runs as the Tritons scored in five of the six innings played. Martinez was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Brent Hokeness and Barton each drove in a pair. 

Holy, Trey Morris, Teige Lethert, Colten Becker and Deric Fitzgerald had an RBI each. 

The Tritons return to action on Sunday, hosting Ellsworth at 2 p.m. for a nine-inning affair.
