Conference split for Iowa Central on diamond

The 10th-ranked Iowa Central baseball team was left with a split here Saturday against Des Moines Area. 

After taking the series opener, 10-4, the Tritons dropped the second, 11-1. 

Brett Sears improved to 9-0 with six strikeouts on the mound, allowing just five hits with one walk. Chase Cone and Kai Reum each added a strikeout. 

Brock Johnson was 2-for-4 with four RBI and a double, Jalen Martinez drove in two and Cael Boyd had two runs and two stolen bases. 

Max Holy and Caleb Corbin also scored a pair of runs each.

Nick Baker had two hits in the nightcap while John Klein struck out 12 over six innings. 

The third game of the series is set for noon on Sunday at Ed Barbour Field.
