Iowa Central denied road upset

COUNCIL BLUFFS - The sixth-ranked (Div. II) Iowa Central baseball team suffered a 3-0 setback to No. 8 (Div. I) Iowa Western here Saturday.

Easton Dermody struck out nine over six innings, allowing just four hits. All three runs scored against Dermody were unearned, as he walked just one batter. 

Kole Bradley and Austin Bergum scattered just three hits over the final two innings, striking out a pair for the Tritons (30-10 overall, 11-6 in ICCAC).

Jalen Martinez remained hot at the plate with two hits, while Max Holy, Nick Baker and Jacob Barton each recorded a base hit. Evan Borst stole a base. 

Martinez has a seven-game hit streak during which he has recorded 14 total hits and scored eight runs. 

All three runs for the Reivers scored in the sixth. 

Iowa Central returns home on Tuesday to host North Iowa Area at Ed Barbour Field. First-pitch in the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
