Tritons go 4-0 in Millington

Tritons went 4-0 in Tennessee February 16-18

The Iowa Central baseball team traveled to Millington, TN for four games February 16-18.

In the first game of the weekend, the Tritons faced University of Arkansas Rich Mountain.

The Tritons remained scoreless for five innings vs. the Bucks, who put the first six runs on the board, before scoring two to bring the score to 6-2 going into the sixth. After scoreless sixth and seventh innings, the Tritons rallied, scoring five runs in the eighth and three more runs in the ninth to take the first game of the weekend 10-8.

On Saturday, the Tritons faced Lake Land College of Mattoon, IL. Iowa Central took an early lead with seven runs in the first inning and remained strong throughout the game, scoring in the second, third and fourth innings to go up 11-5 over the Lakers. A single run by the Tritons in the seventh closed the deal, with the Tritons taking a 12-5 decision over the Lakers.

In the second game of the day, The Tritons defeated the Jaguars of Danville Community College 13-0 in five innings.

In the final game of the weekend, Iowa Central faced the Blue Knights of Olney Central on Sunday. Olney put the first three runs on the board and held the lead 3-1 in the fourth, but the Tritons answered with a five-run fourth inning. The next three innings remained scoreless for both teams, before the Tritons added another five to the board in the eighth, winning 11-3 in nine innings.

The Tritons will be on the road February 24, traveling to Sedalia, MO where they will play State Fair Community College and John Wood Community College.
