Triton Baseball Improves to 7-0

Sedalia, Mo.  - The Iowa Central baseball team extended their winning streak to seven here this weekend.

The No. 6 (NJCAA) Tritons (7-0 overall) won the first game of the day 12-2 over the Roadrunners of State Fair Community College.

The Tritons were on the board first, scoring one run in the second inning. Three runs in the fourth put the Tritons up 4-1, followed by one run in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh inning to secure the win.

Josh Kirchhoff got the victory on the mound for the Tritons with nine strikeouts in five innings.

Cooper Nicholson led the Tritons at the plate with three RBI's and a home run, Zakary Goodwin added two RBI's, with Michael Siemer, Will Smoot, Jackson Tessman and Johnson all with one RBI for Iowa Central.

 

In game two of the afternoon, The Tritons faced the Blazers of John Wood Community College.

The Tritons and Blazers each scored in the first inning followed by scoreless second and third innings. The Tritons added one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the seventh inning for the 9-2 win.

Hunter Frost had the win on the mound for the Tritons, pitching four innings. Ryan Ohm struck out five of his nine batters to record his first save of the season.

Harrison Bowman led the Tritons with six RBIs in three at-bats. Siemer had two RBIs and Peter Johnson had one RBI and a home run. Copper Nicholson added a home run for the Tritons and led the Tritons in runs scored with three.

Iowa Central will travel to Kansas City March 1-3 with games vs. Metropolitan Community College and Neosho.
