Baseball Splits With Northeast

Norfolk, NE – The Iowa Central Triton Baseball Team split two games with Northeast here Wednesday.

In game one, the No. 6 Tritons (31-6 overall) held a 10-7 lead going into the fifth, but the Hawks outscored the Tritons, plating 14 runners in the final two innings of the game for the 21-11 win.

The Triton offense was led by Cooper Nicholson with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Michael Siemer added two RBIs, while Harrison Bowman, Peter Johnson, Jake Busson, Jackson Tessman and Will Smoot each had one.

In game two of the day's doubleheader, the Tritons scored two runs in the second and one in the fourth, holding off the Hawks 3-0 into the final inning, when a late 9-run rally propelled Iowa Central to a 12-2 win.

Will Smoot recorded three RBIs, a double and a home run to lead the Tritons offensively. Peter Johnson added two RBIs and a home run.

Daiten Schmidt (2-1) recorded his second win of the season on the mound for the Tritons with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

Iowa Central is on the road this weekend for a three-game ICCAC series with ninth-ranked Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids.
