Tritons Sweep Weekend Series with Mott
Moving their early season record to 11-3 and extending their win streak to nine, Triton Baseball swept a four game weekend series with Mott Community College at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.
Game one on Saturday (3/8) saw the Tritons edge the Bears in a 14-12 victory. Mott took an early lead in the third inning, scoring four runs, before the Tritons responded with a 10-run fourth inning. Mott would score seven runs in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tritons' 9-run lead.
Colin Richie had a home run and drove in three. Jake Busson also added three RBIs. Ryan Ohm (2-0) picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowed only four hits with eight strike outs.
A 5-run third inning set the tone for the Tritons in a dominant 5-inning 11-1 victory in Saturday's second matchup. Both teams scored in the first inning before the Tritons scored 10 unanswered runs in the win.
A home run and three RBI from Isaiah Scott along with two RBI from Chayton Fischer led the way for the Tritons. Carter Giesen (2-0) earned his second win of the season, pitching four innings and allowing only three hits with seven strikeouts. Parker Otte earned the save.
Sunday's (3/9) opener saw the Tritons score three in the first inning and go on to score runs in every inning except the sixth in a 14-5 victory.
Spencer Pederson and Jake Busson both had home runs and drove in three. Chayton Fischer and Isaiah Scott each added home runs. Maddux Gast (1-0) earned the win, pitching four innings while striking out seven. William Ho secured the save, pitching the final three innings and giving up just one run on two hits.
The Tritons would win the final game of the series with an 8-5 victory after scoring six runs in the first inning.
Lane Moline drove in three runs to lead the Tritons. Chayton Fischer had two RBI with Luke Sigwarth and Luke Bohonek each adding one. Isaiah Brennan (1-0) secured the win with a solid four-inning performance, allowing six hits while striking out seven. Sean Stewart closed the game with a three-inning save, striking out four and allowing no runs to close the series sweep for the Tritons.
"We had really good production up and down the lineup this weekend," said Triton Head Coach, Eric Stein. "Chayton Fischer and Isaiah Scott both had strong weekends offensively. Our pitching was solid overall too. We just need to continue to limit free bases."
Up next for the Tritons is a double-header with Dakota County Technical College on Tuesday (3/11) at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
