Tritons Fall in Second-Round Matchup with Top-Seed Pasco-Hernandez State

Following their first-round victory over Frederick, Triton Head Coach, Eric Stein knew Sunday's (5/25) matchup with top-seed Pasco-Hernando State at the NJCAA DII World Series was going to be a tough test for his Tritons.

Cooper Nicholson laced a double on the game's first pitch, but the Tritons were unable to get their offense going in a 13-3 loss on Sunday afternoon at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The Tritons would finish with just six hits off of Pasco-Hernando's ace, Michael Savarese, who leads the country in wins (14-0) and strikeouts (126).

Chayton Fischer led the Tritons with a double and 2 RBI and Spencer Pederson added an RBI on a 4th inning solo homerun. Carter Giesen (9-3) took the loss on the mound after giving up five hits and five runs in 2.2 innings. Isaiah Brennan, William Ho, AJ Rasmussen, and Jordan La Tour all saw time on the mound for the Tritons in relief.

"They executed better than we did and deserved to win," said Stein. "We will regroup and get back to it vs. Lackawanna."

The Tritons will now face #12-seed Lackawanna in an elimination game on Monday (5/26) night at 7:00 PM.
