Tritons Fall in Semifinals at NJCAA DII World Series
Playing in their fourth consecutive elimination game and sixth game in six days, Triton Baseball fell 11-1 in a rematch with top-seed Pasco-Hernando on Thursday (5/29) afternoon in the semifinals at the NJCAA DII World Series.
Finding themselves down quickly 9-0 after two innings following loading the bases twice and not scoring, the Tritons couldn't get anything going offensively against the Bobcats and would score their lone run of the game in the fourth inning.
"We had opportunities with guys all over the bases," said Triton Head Coach, Eric Stein. "We just couldn't get the big hit we needed to score them."
Chayton Fischer had a hit and an RBI to lead the Tritons. Bryson Carpenter, Isaiah Scott, Luke Bohonek, and Cade Sears also had hits.
Carter Giesen, Braxton Shaffer, Nick Discher, Aiden Smith, and Clayton Renfrew all saw time on the mound with Giesen (9-4) taking the loss. Discher allowed just one hit in two scoreless innings.
Their final four finish matches the result of the last time the Tritons qualified for the NJCAA DII World Series in 2010.
"It was a great experience for our team. Our guys showed a lot of grit competing the way they did with six games in six days," said Stein. "They showed that we are one of the premier teams in the country."
