Triton Dance Dominates At State Event

WEST DES MOINES - The Iowa Central dance team swept the state competition inside Wells Fargo Arena, walking away with gold in all three categories.

The Tritons placed first in hip hop, jazz and pom during the 44th annual State Competition. The event featured the top community college programs in the state.

Iowa Central, under the direction of head coach Cassidy Vermeer and assistant Stephanie Hood, have swept the three events twice now in school history.

"The entire ICDT program has a bond and a respect for each other that makes teamwork a true reality," Vermeer said. "I am so thankful for a great group of dancers, an amazing assistant coach and all alumni fans that are second to none.

"I couldn't be more proud of these girls and how hard they have worked the past couple of months. It wasn't always easy but I promised them it would always be worth it. They proved to themselves and everyone else that remaining 'Humble and Hungry' would get them to where they wanted to be. These ladies are loved so much more than they can ever imagine and will always hold such a special place in my heart always.

"Once a Triton, always a Triton."

Team members include Gracie Bach, Jayda Roether, Kendra Terry, Melissa Davis, Jasilyn Roop, Yasmine Bourommavong, Nicole Smith, Cassandra Callaway, Elizabeth Woltman, Hailey Garrard, Sarah Seaba, Katelyn Paterson, Payton Jensen, Rebecca Sieverding, Sydney Louison and Brylie Huddleson.
