Triton Dance shines in Daytona

The Tritons finished with a pair of third place trophies in hip hop and team performance.

"We had tough competition this year and brand new teams we have never competed against before," Iowa Central head coach Cassidy Vermeer said. "This year, ICDT competed the best they ever had and scored the highest scores they ever had at this national competition.

"As a coach, I couldn't have been more proud of them. They danced their best, left their entire hearts and souls out on the floor every performance and did absolutely everything in their power to make sure they left that stage feeling confident and proud."

In hip hop, the Tritons finished with a score of 89.026 to go along with a team performance score of 85.9.

"At the end of the day, the results are left up to the judges and we left feeling so accomplished," Vermeer said. "It is always our No. 1 goal to have a good performance on semifinal day to be able to make it to finals for our routines. That is a challenge in itself, we so we were super proud to make finals for both of our routines.

"Between semis and finals for both divisions, we improved our scores tremendously and that is always one of our main goals while competing in Daytona is to take the critiques of the judges and apply them for finals performances to increase our score and hit our peak for our finals performances."

Members of the team included Meredith Binder, Kayley Brown, Olivia Chapin, Eve Chavez, Emma Clark, Courtney Colshan, Lexi Curtis, Kali Peters, Kendall Fecher, Heidi Garcia, Brylie Huddleson, Megan Jenkins, Callie Jones, Taylor Kruger, Amber Kubat, Sierra Mitchell, Mia Mortensen, Makenna Naeve, Claire Southward, Aubree Tasler, Rianna Vivens, Bionca Wendt, Brielle Wernimont and Avery Wilson.
