No. 10 Tritons Score Key Road Triumph

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. ä The 10th-ranked Iowa Central football team started their three-week journey away from home the right way, claiming a 50-36 victory over College of DuPage here Saturday afternoon inside Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium.

After falling behind early, 7-3, the Tritons (3-1 overall) took control of the first half with three second quarter touchdowns from three different players.

Kurt Taylor found the end zone from four yards out, Grant Walker added a 3-yard score and Demarcus Irons hit paydirt from three yards away. Coupled with Colin Swygmanás 39-yard field goal in the first quarter, Iowa Central built a 24-14 halftime lead.

Arthur Brantley got in on the scoring in the third, but the Chaparrals answered with back-to-back touchdowns to cut into the lead. Taylor, a Michigan transfer, halted the run with a 37-yard TD jaunt with Christian Ford adding a 25-yard touchdown catch to end the quarter.

Terrell Carey hauled in a 14-yard pass from Irons for the final Triton score of the day. Jatoviay Hill also caught a two-point conversion pass from Irons.

Iowa Central will take its longest trip in school history next Saturday when they head to Utah to face No. 7 Snow. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Snow played ninth-ranked Lackawanna last night.
