Tritons head to Utah to face Snow

Iowa Central rolls past Coffeyville

The seventh-ranked Iowa Central football team will head to Utah to face No. 16 Snow on Saturday night.

After a flight almost halfway across the country, the Tritons (3-1 overall) will make their way to Ephraim to face the Badgers (2-2), who are playing as an independent after the Western States Football League closed last year.

Iowa Central won for the third consecutive time last weekend at College of DuPage in Illinois, 50-36. Kurt Taylor, a transfer from Michigan, ran for a career-high 133 yards and scored two touchdowns. Demarcus Irons had 277 total yards and accounted for three touchdowns, with Tanarious Achan catching seven passes for 170 yards.

Achan is second in the nation in receptions and has over 360 yards on the year. Irons has seven touchdowns passing and just one interception, with over 900 total yards and three more scores on the ground.

Rashad Witty is averaging over 114 all-purpose yards per game and is tied for the team lead with 29 tackles with Jarran Barber. Both Eugene Brown and Daquan Cross have 28 stops.

"There is a lot of nervous energy from everybody right now," ICCC head coach Jesse Montalto said. "We have some kids that have never been on a plane before. We're trying to prepare them for the check-ins, security, the flight, the drive and of course, a football game, as well."

This is the second of three consecutive road games in three different states for the Tritons. They head to Kansas to meet Highland next Saturday before finally returning home in October to play No. 18 Garden City.
