Former Tritons Shining For New Teams

Andrew Parchment

Jesse Montalto and the Iowa Central football program put together a season to remember last year, winning eight games and claiming a victory in the Graphic Edge Bowl.

The Tritons were able to send several players to major programs after the season ended, and some of them are already making an impact at their new schools.

Here's a look at what some former Iowa Central players have accomplished this year at the FBS and FCS level:

- Andrew Parchment was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week after hauling in five passes for 132 yards and two scores vs. West Virginia. Parchment, who had 23 catches for 227 yards and two scores with the Tritons, leads Kansas with 24 catches for 367 yards and four touchdowns this year.

Parchment has three 100-plus games this year and has caught eight passes in two games.

- Myron Cunningham, who earned All-American honors with the Tritons, is a starting offensive lineman for Arkansas. The Razorbacks are averaging 29 points per game and 441 yards per contest this year with Cunningham battling in the trenches.

- Spencer Cuvelier, the anchor to Iowa Central's defense a year ago at linebacker, has 37 tackes in three games for Northern Iowa this fall. That includes 14 in the season opener vs. Iowa State.

- Roosevelt Lawrence, a senior in his second season with the Panthers, has 16 tackles and a sack in three games. A former Triton, he made eight stops vs. Iowa State.

- Former Manson Northwest Webster standout Tim Butcher is coming off his best game as a Panther, as the ex-Triton made five tackles, including 2.5 for loss, in a close win over Idaho State. He has nine tackles on the year and 4.5 for loss.

UNI has a key Top-10 showdown with Weber State set for this weekend.

- SaVion Harris has 12 solo tackles and 17 total tackles with an interception as a starting safety for UTSA. He recorded five tackles at Baylor and picked off a pass in the season opener. The junior had 60 tackles, six pass breakups and blocked a punt for Iowa Central last year.

- Carlton Todd a native of Waterloo who was an all-state wide receiver for Waterloo East before competing for the Tritons, has four catches for 53 yards for Buffalo. He started for the Bulls at Penn State, catching two passes for 31 yards, and added two receptions for 22 yards this past weekend vs. Temple.

- Blake Dever has played in one game for North Alabama this season, completing 1 of 2 passes for 25 yards. The redshirt junior was the starting quarterback for the Tritons much of last season, throwing for 1,893 yards.

- Demond Stewart, a junior at Charlotte, recorded a tackle against top-ranked and defending national champion Clemson this past Saturday night. He has two tackles on the season for the 49ers with a forced fumble in four games at defensive tackle.
