Tritons unable to get on track

Tritons looking to take next step after 8-win 2018 season

The Iowa Central football team was unable to keep their winning ways going at home Saturday, dropping a 43-27 decision to No. 12 Garden City inside Dodger Stadium.

Entering the game, the Tritons had won five in a row at home and seven of eight overall under head coach Jesse Montalto.

And it appeared as if that number was going to increase by one early when Iowa Central took a 27-13 lead following four first half touchdown passes by Arthur Brantley. The Broncbusters, who were national runners-up a year ago, scored 30 unanswered points to swing momentum - and ultimately the game - in their favor.

Brantley finished 12-for-18 for 211 yards with 54 yards rushing and four touchdowns, Rashad Witty hauled in five passes for 115 yards and two scores, Tanarious Achan had four catches for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Kurt Taylor ran for 73 yards.

Grant Walker also had 49 yards rushing and Terrell Carey caught three passes for 55 yards.

After playing three consecutive weeks on the road, the Tritons (3-4 overall) will hop on the bus and head to Dodge City next Saturday before another road date with Ellsworth the following weekend.
