Irons, Ford garner ICCAC honors

Demarcus Irons stretches across the end zone for a Triton touchdown.

Demarcus Irons and Christian Ford were each named ICCAC Athletes of the Week. Irons earned the offensive honor for a third time, with Ford being named the top special teams player.

Iowa Central rolled to a 39-21 win over Dodge City last week to get back on the winning track. Impressively, Irons racked up some solid stats while only seeing the field in the second and third quarters.

In his short time, Irons completed 9 of 15 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second time this season Irons has thrown for at least three touchdowns and the third time eclipsing the 220-yard mark.

With that, he went over the 1,000 yard passing mark now with 1,074 on the season with 11 touchdowns.

Ford found the end zone last week on an 88-yard kickoff return.

It was the second time this year that Ford has returned a kick for a touchdown, his first coming in Week 1 against Butler when he took a kick 97 yards for a score. In all, he has returned nine kicks for an average of 29 yards and two touchdowns
