Iowa Central hits the field

The Iowa Central football team will conclude the regular season Saturday at Dodger Stadium in another ranked matchup.

Iowa Central moved to 6-5 with a 53-31 win at Fort Scott last weekend, improving to 3-1 in its last four games overall and 2-2 on the road this year. Among the teams ranked in the current Top-20, this will be the sixth rated foe for the Tritons, who have also played No. 3 Garden City, No. 5 Iowa Western, No. 11 Butler, No. 12 Independence and No. 14 Snow.

Two other opponents, Highland and Fort Scott, are receiving votes.

Jadon Washington had a career day in his first start, rushing 24 times for 145 yards and a touchdown. Washington, who also had two receptions for 29 yards, earned ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Grant Walker and Irons each had rushing touchdowns as part of a seven-TD, 465-yard performance from the offense.

On defense, the Tritons held Fort Scott to just 52 yards rushing and picked off three passes, including two by Dijion Walls and one from Malik Adams. Eugene Brown led the way with 12 tackles, Rocky Schoenfelder had 11 and Elijah Freking recorded nine with a sack.

Marquis Burks had two sacks and Kalen Burt another.

Iowa Central will also play in December in Cedar Falls at the UNI-Dome in the Graphic Edge Bowl. An opponent has yet to be announced.
