CEDAR FALLS - The defense got the job done for Northern Iowa in the opening round of the FCS playoffs this past weekend.

Four former Iowa Central football standouts were part of that unit in Spencer Cuvelier, Tim Butcher, Jackson Martens and Roosevelt Lawrence. 

Cuvelier recorded a fumble recovery that ended San Diego's second-to-last drive of the game. The Panthers won, 17-3, advancing to meet South Dakota State this coming Saturday.

Cuvelier finished with four tackles in the game, Lawrence had three and Butcher two, with one being for a loss of yards.
