Tritons fall to Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Iowa Central football team could never get on track here Saturday, falling for a second time this season to Iowa Western, 37-14.

In a battle of Top-10 ICCAC teams, the No. 6 Reivers laid claim to the regular season conference title with the win.

Iowa Western (4-1 overall, 3-0) jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead on a pair of touchdown passes by Nate Glantz. The freshman found Donovan Moorer from 18 yards out and hit James Gilbert on a 51-yard TD strike, but the Tritons blocked the extra-point to make it 13-0.

Byron Jarrett finished off a 10-play, 56-yard drive with a 1-yard plunge into the end zone for the lone bright spot on offense for seventh-ranked Iowa Central (3-2, 2-2).

The Reivers made it 20-7 on the third touchdown pass of the day for Glantz, this time to Jermaine Dawson. Josh Jasek knocked in a 32-yard field goal in the third with Milton Sargbah and Ezeki Leggins adding rushing scores.

Brady Pope finished 17-for-30 for 156 yards with Jadon Washington rushing for 66 yards. Madison Ridgeway caught five passes for 67 yards and Aniik McKenzie caught four passes.

Jarrett hit Desna Washington late in the fourth on a 10-yard touchdown strike.

Glantz was 25 of 43 for 298 yards and three scores, hitting Gilbert four times for 79 yards and Dawson four times for 57. Michael Love caught nine passes for 56 yards and Sargbah ran for 58.

Garret Ollendieck, the reigning NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week, had a sack, as did Bryant Barrier and Romello Gray. CJ Christian also picked off a pass. Major Williams recorded nine tackles and Christian had seven.

Iowa Central will have next weekend off before returning home to face No. 4 Snow on Saturday, May 8 at Dodger Stadium.
