No. 9 Tritons down DuPage, 41-14

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - The Iowa Central offense started clicking a little earlier here Saturday afternoon than last week.

The ninth-ranked Tritons scored in all four quarters, highlighted by 17 points in the first, to down No. 1 (NJCAA Div. III) College of DuPage, 41-14.

Byron Jarrett threw two more touchdown passes, hitting both Madison Ridgeway and Desna Washington, Alec Trujillo had his first TD pass for Iowa Central (2-0 overall) and Colin Swygman knocked in two field goals and five extra points.

Jarrett and Ridgeway hooked up on the first scoring strike from 50 yards out to finish off a nine-play, 83-yard drive that took up over four minutes of the clock. Swygman had a 25-yard field goal in the quarter and Jordan Kumm returned a punt 52 yards to finish give the Tritons a 17-0 lead.

In the second, Trujillo found Washington from 33 yards. DuPage (1-1) got on the board with a 12-yard scoring strike from Brooks Blount to Myles McKatherine.

"We came out and made some good plays," Iowa Central head coach Jesse Montalto said. "We had a few drives stall out, but we finished strong. The defense played great and it was a good win against a tough team."

Swygman made a 35-yard field goal in the third and Jarrett found Washington to complete a 12-play, 71-yard series from 20 yards out. Daylen Boddie provided one final exciting moment, darting to the end zone from 82 yards out.
