Tritons win season opener on the road vs. Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. — The 10th-ranked Iowa Central football team set the tone early here vs. Independence, picking up a 28-15 victory in their season opener.

Justin Silverstein threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair to Mario Sanders. Michael Bartolotta and Spencer Zinn each caught TD passes.

Sanders finished with six receptions for 95 yards, Bartolotta had four for 54 and Zinn had three that went for 52. Three other players had catches as Silverstein was 17-for-35 on the day while also leading the team in rushing.

Up next for Iowa Central head coach Jesse Montalto and the Tritons will be their home opener this Saturday at noon vs. ninth-ranked Garden City inside Dodger Stadium. The Broncbusters posted a 27-22 win over No. 12 Butler last weekend.
