DODGE CITY, Kan. — For the second consecutive week, the Iowa Central football team was downed by a ranked team from Kansas.

No. 14 Dodge City erased a 10-point deficit to knock off the ninth-ranked Tritons here Saturday, 34-30.

Iowa Central (5-3 overall) was looking to bounce back after a loss at home to No. 7 Butler and gain some momentum heading into a showdown this coming Saturday with second-ranked Iowa Western.

A 23-point second quarter had them well on their way to doing just that as Mario Sanders caught a pair of touchdown passes from Justin Silverstein to get the Tritons back into the game as they took a 23-20 lead into the break.

Silverstein finished the day with 337 yards passing and four touchdowns as Sanders caught nine passes for 150 with three sores. Ja'Vontae Williams had the other touchdown as Tavis Maloy hauled in two passes for 67 yards.

Spencer Zinn rushed for 43 yards to lead the ground attack for the Tritons.

For Dodge City, Treyvon Jefferson had 309 yards in the air and four scores while Jalen Smith rushed 16 times for 178 yards and a TD. Curtis Rearden III had six receptions for 129 yards and two scores.

Smith's 2-yard TD plunge to cap a six-play, 97-yard drive with just over five minutes remaining in the game was the difference.

Dan Knudsen had two sacks on defense with Branson Peters recording eight tackles. Andre Porter, Marlon Dawson and Malachi Byrd all picked off a pass.
