Eleven Tritons Earn All-Conference ICCAC Football Honors
The 2024 ICCAC Football All-Conference team was announced this week as the ICCAC wrapped up their regular season in Week 13. The Tritons finished second in the conference standings with a 5-6 regular season record and a 1-1 conference record.
Leading the awards for the Tritons is Jawarren Corbin who was named ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Corbin racked up 66 tackles while playing linebacker, which placed him third in the conference in total tackles. Along with his tackles, Corbin brought down the quarterback on three occasions along with an assist giving him 3.5 sacks. Corbin also had a forced fumble, three interceptions, and two pass break ups.
"Corbin was an all around playmaker for us this year" said Triton Head Coach, Jesse Montalto. "He made plays in the backfieldalong with creating turnovers whenever we needed one. I am so proud of his development and growth over the past year. I couldn't be happier for him."
Joining Corbin on the All-Conference Defensive Team is fellow linebacker Ishmael Kante, Howard Brown, Joseph Shannon, and Kadarius Williams. Kante was second in the conference in total tackles with 71 and had four sacks. Brown and Shannon caused issues for offensive lines all season long with Brown tied for second in the conference with 4.5 sacks this season, 15 tackles for a loss, and a fumble recovery. Shannon had 42 tackles and three sacks. Williams had 36 tackles and three interceptions.
The All-Conference Offensive Team for the Tritons was led by running back Cyncir Bowers, who was the Triton's top rusher and receiver this season. Bowers finished with 917 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Through the air, Bowers caught the ball 23 times for 348 yards and scored twice.
Joining Bowers are receiving threats, wide receiver Austin Ayobamidele and tight end Bryce Anderson. From the offensive line, Joseph Kallies and Alan Pond, and long snapper, Ethan Bartlett. Ayobamidele led the Tritons in receiving yards with 401 yard and two touchdowns. Anderson had 293 yards and scored the most receiving touchdowns for the Tritons in 2024 with five.
"We're happy for our players who earned All-Confererence and All-Region honors." said Montalto. "They earned every accolade through their hard work and play making ability throughout the year. Hopefully there are more accolades to come before the end of the year."
Along with the All-Conference team, each school is allotted All-Region selections based on their finish in the conference.
