Michael “M.J.” Piranio joined the coaching staff at Iowa Central Community College in July, 2022 as the program’s Running Backs Coach. He will recruit South Dakota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and the Northeast.

Coach Piranio came to Fort Dodge after a two year period at Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota where he was a part of building the program there. After joining Coach Mike Woodley’s staff, Coach Piranio served in a variety of roles for one of the newest programs in college football. Piranio spent a year and a half coaching the Defensive Line before transitioning to Running Backs for his last Spring Ball in Yankton. Coach Piranio also assisted in coaching the Lancers’ Linebackers, Special Teams, and Quarterbacks. Off the field, Piranio was the Football Sports Information Director and was the Assistant Academic Liaison.

Prior to his time in Yankton, Coach Piranio served in various roles under Coach Matt Barry at Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. Hired in May 2019 as the Quality Control Coach for Offense, Defense, and Special Teams, Coach Piranio quickly took on new roles for the second year program. Coach Piranio was promoted to the role of Running Backs Coach prior to the 2019 season where he coached All-Freshman team selection Dwanye Moore. Coach Piranio was also the co-Offensive Line Coach and served as the program’s Academic Liaison.

Piranio is originally from Washingtonville, New York. He is a graduate of Don Bosco Prep and was on the 2011 National Championship team. Piranio holds a B.A. in English, Writing and Rhetoric from Florida Atlantic University and a M.Ed in Coaching Leadership from Mount Marty University.
