Iowa Central hosted Southwestern Community College last Wednesday, January 17th, and came away with a tough 83-79 victory. Down 77-71 with 2 minutes to go, Iowa Central went on a 12-2 run to end the game and come away with the victory. "I thought we showed some toughness the last 2 minutes of the game. We got stops which led us to get back in the game. Southwestern is a good team. This was a battle between two really good teams." Said Dennis Pilcher, Iowa Central head coach. The run to end the end with a dramatic basket by Tray Croft with 7 seconds left to put Iowa Central up 2. Southwestern raced down the court to try and tie the game, but a block shot by Dallas Bailey sealed the victory. "I'm really proud of the guys. We battled all game long. This was a very good victory." Said Pilcher

Iowa Central went on the road on Saturday to take on NIACC in Mason City and came out victories by the score of 86-54. As a team, the Tritons hit 18 three point baskets. Iowa Central open an 18 point lead at half and continued to build on that in the second half in cruising to the victory. "I thought we played really well. Obviously when you are making shots, that makes a huge difference. We shot really well and NIACC didn't. The game is so much easier when shots are falling. Today we made it look easy." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central. In the game, 7 different Tritons hit a three point basket. The other telling stat was, on the 30 made field goals the Tritons made, they assisted on 23 of them. "We did a good job of moving the ball and finding the open guy. 23 assist means we made the extra pass." Said Pilcher

Iowa Central ran into a hot shooting Iowa Lakes team on Wednesday night as the Tritons fell by a score of 92-67. Iowa Lakes shot a 49% from the floor as the Tritons only shot 34%. "Iowa Lakes took it to us, got us on our heels and started making shots. Just as the shots were falling for us against NIACC on Saturday, tonight they weren't. Credit to them, they just made more plays than we did." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central. Iowa Central open the game with a 1 shot technical and that would be the only lead they would have all night. "We need to move on from this one and forget about it. Sometimes things just don't go your way and you have to have a short memory in this game." Said Pilcher
