The Iowa Central Tritons made 15 three point field goals on Saturday in an 87-80 victory over Southeastern. With the win, Iowa Central improves to 16-5 overall.
Iowa Central built a lead by as many as 8 points in the first half but Southeastern was able to hang around and cut the lead to 3 at halftime. But Iowa Central continued its hot shooting in the second half as they built a lead by as many as 12. But once again, Southeastern was able to battle back and tie the game with 6 minutes to go. Huge plays by Tray Croft and Thomas Akamarmoi down the stretch enabled Iowa Central to hang on and win.
"I thought Thomas Akamarmoi and Kane Kramer played really well for us off the bench. For us to be successful the rest of the way, we need guys off the bench to contribute. Obviously Tray and Dallas are going to lead us, but we need other guys to step up as well. So I was happy with that. Royshawn Webb also had a good game for us too. This is a big win to bounce back like we did after Wednesday night's performance to get this victory. I am really happy for our guys." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.
With the win, Iowa Central is now 16-5 overall. They will be in action again on Wednesday, January 31st at DMACC in Boone. Game time will be at 7:30pm.
