Tritons open league play at Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE - Before they hit the Christmas break later this month, the Iowa Central basketball teams will open ICCAC play.

The Tritons take on Iowa Lakes Wednesday night beginning with the women's contest at 5:30 p.m. Men are scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. 

Coming into the game off a pair of wins, the Iowa Central women (6-4) will try to keep that momentum going. Isabell West and Aaliyah Hull average 11 points a game, with Justice Crooks at 10.6. 

Hull also grabs eight rebounds per game, with Bell and Mardaeja Cross at seven a night. 

Iowa Lakes is 8-3 this season.

Chad Helle and the Iowa Central men (4-7 overall) have picked up back-to-back wins over Marshalltown and Simpson JV. Freshman Andrew Gibb leads the team at 17 points per game, shooting almost 54 percent from the field.

Julian Barr averages 11 points, D'Monte Gaw 10.5, Marquis Henry 9.6 and Jeremiah Hurst 9.6 for the balanced Tritons. Hurst is shooting 65 percent from the floor, while Barr is hitting 45 percent of his 3-point attempts. 

Iowa Lakes is 8-2 and has won eight in a row. The Lakers are averaging 98 points per game.
