Iowa Central ends year with a win

NORFOLK, Neb. - The Iowa Central men ended the regular season in convincing fashion here Wednesday night, topping Northeast, 74-68.

These two teams will turn right back around the square off Friday night in Mason City to begin the Region XI Tournament.

Kevin Taylor and Javonte Keck led four players in double figures, scoring 18 each. Kyler Matthias had 14 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Josh Baker added 12. Jordan Majeed chipped in seven.

Keck had nine rebounds, Taylor eight with three assists, and Baker seven boards.

Iowa Central trailed 43-31 at the half before outscoring Northeast over the final 20 minutes, 43-25.

Jared Lopez had 17 and Evan Decker 14 for the Hawks.

The Tritons and Northeast play Friday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to meet Kirkwood on Saturday. The other quarterfinal round games pit Iowa Western against North Iowa Area, Iowa Lakes vs. Southwestern and Des Moines Area vs. Ellsworth.
