Coach Chad Helle and the Iowa Central Men's Basketball Team will be ready to hit the ground running when they open the season on Thursday November 2.
After a 15-15 finish last season, Helle is looking to returning sophomores Deuce Blake, Miles Fant, Mekhi Wilson, and Chase Johnson to lead the team into the 2023-2024 season.
"These guys have all had a great fall so far and bring great leadership experience," said Helle.
Helle has high expectations from freshmen Randy Latham, a guard from Atlanta; Riley Edwards, a guard from Altoona; Chase Low, a forward from Charles City; and sophomore transfer Jordan Fenderson, a guard from Chicago.
"I am expecting big things from these guys, they are great in their roles and provide great depth," Helle said.
The Tritons open regular season play November 2 on their home court against Mount Mercy JV.
They face a strong conference season with four ICCAC programs (Ellsworth, Iowa Lakes, DMACC and Kirkwwood) in the NJCAA DII pre-season top 25 rankings.
"It's a work in progress," said Helle. "One game at a time and by January and February we should be playing our best basketball and will see where it takes us."
Helle is assisted by Ky Kramer, in his fourth year as a Triton assistant coach, and first year assistant Malik Kelley, a 2023 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University who joined the Triton coaching staff in August.
