Tritons Can't Sweep Northeast

Miles Fant was the top scored for the Tritons vs. Northeast

The Iowa Central men couldn't erase a 10-point halftime deficit at home on Saturday, falling 87-77 to Northeast (Neb.) Community College inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

Despite 23 points from Miles Fant, the Tritons (5-19 overall, 2-12 in the ICCAC) came up short. The Redhawks (9-13, 4-10) made 52 percent of their shots from the field and knocked down 10 triples in the victory.

Fant also grabbed eight rebounds for Iowa Central. Deuce Blake came off the bench to add 17 points.

Randy Latham (11 points), Jordan Fenderson (9) and Riley Edwards (8) were next in line. Daviyon Gatson contributed seven rebounds, with Latham recording five steals.

Vincent Garrett had a double-double for Northeast, scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Garrett was 8-for-11 from the field.

Four other Redhawks were in double figures. Northeast, which got 37 points from its bench, led 45-35 at halftime.

Iowa Central had defeated Northeast in Norfolk earlier this season, 75-73.

The Tritons head to Estherville on Wednesday, where they face Iowa Lakes at 7:30 p.m.
