Seven Tritons in Double Figures in 105-76 Victory Over Mount Mercy JV

Leading 25-5 after the first five minutes of play set the tone for a dominant 105-76 victory for the Tritons on Friday (11/15) night inside Hodges Fieldhouse. 13 Tritons found the scoring column, with seven in double figures. Triton Head Coach, Ryan Kirsch, was happy with the Tritons' effort. "That was a complete team win. We shared the basketball well and continue to play together. Every night could be a different Triton leading the way and having seven guys in double figures is a pretty cool thing."

Jalen Wynter and CJ Mitchell both scored 14 to lead the Tritons. Jordan Cain added 13 and Irakli Akhalaia had 10 points, six rebounds, and five steals. As a team, the Tritons shot 51% from the field, had 22 assists, and out rebounded Mount Mercy, 45-27.

"I challenge the guys every game to win the rebounding and turnover (17-10) battle – we we're able to do both again tonight." said Kirsch. "Defensively we aren't where we want to be yet, but we're causing turnovers and scoring on those opportunities. We need to keep working on rotating quicker and getting better on ball screens, but we'll get there. Just get a little tighter on the defensive end."

After not reaching the century mark in Hodges Fieldhouse since 2018, that's back-to-back games for the Tritons.

Up next is a home matchup with Kansas City Kansas Community College on Tuesday (11/19) night. "We're excited for the challenge of KCK." said Kirsch. "They are a very good opponent and it should be a fun night in Hodges." Tip-off is set for 6:30 PM.
