Tritons Win Fifth In A Row With Victory Over Black Hawk
Still unbeaten in Hodges Fieldhouse this season, Jalen Wynter and Vice Grbic both scored 15 to lead the Tritons (6-2) to their fifth consecutive victory and fourth inside Hodges.
Down six at half, and still trailing by eleven with just over seven minutes to go, the Tritons battled back to defeat the Ravens from Black Hawk College, 72-68.
"So happy with the resolve of this win." said Triton Head Coach, Ryan Kirsch. "We didn't play that well overall, but there will be nights like that. Shots didn't fall and we had to many turnovers (11) in the first half. Give Black Hawk credit. I'm just happy to see our team find a way to will themselves to victory."
True freshman, Jalen Wynter, continued his hot streak from three going 4-of-8 and is shooting over 50% for the season. "Jalen's three's in the second half were key for us." Kirsch said. "Along with Vice. He does a great job of boxing out and taking care of things underneath the rim for us."
Terrius Walker added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Tritons. Jordan Cain pulled down 7 rebounds to go with four assists and three steals.
As a team, the Tritons played well defensively and again won the rebounding battle, 43-38. Coach Kirsch was happy with the defensive effort. "Defensively we were good. We held them to 38% shooting and kept them off of the glass. It was a grind it out win"
