Chad Helle is in his third season as head coach of the Iowa Central men's basketball program.

Helle, the long-time assistant for legendary head coach Dennis Pilcher, is a former Triton standout himself. After graduating from Western Dubuque High School, Helle played two seasons for Pilcher and Iowa Central where he was named first team all-region. He went on to play for Viterbo University, earning all-conference honors as both a junior and senior.

Helle joined Pilcher's staff in 2002, helping the Tritons reach the national tournament while also coaching the 2018 NJCAA Div. II Player of the Year, Tray Croft, who was also named an All-American. Klaye Rowe, Kurt Alexander, Terell Parks and Sullivan Sykes have also been named All-American under Helle's guidance.

In Helle's first season as head coach, the Tritons went 10-20 with Javonte Keck earning all-region status. Iowa Central ended the year ranked fifth in the nation in free throw percentage and in the Top-30 in made 3-pointers per game and 3-point shooting percentage. 

During the 2020-21 campaign, Iowa Central finished 6-16 as Keck and PJ Ngambi were named all-region players. The Tritons ranked fourth in the nation in free throw percentage and were 13th in made 3-pointers per game.
