CEDAR RAPIDS - It was another big weekend for Raymond Wiegand and the Iowa Central bowling team here at the Five Seasons Classic.
Behind a runner-up showing from Wiegand, the Triton men placed third overall. On the women's side, Iowa Central was 10th in the team standings.
"There were some highly-ranked teams at this tournament," Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden said. "Our men's team rose to the challenge, leading after day one."
Iowa Central finished with a team score of 8,036 with McKendree placing first at 8,167. Runner-up was Wisconsin-Whitewater at 8,077.
Wiegand, who earned his third all-tournament team honor, rolled a 1,100 with an average of 220. Jordan Pelant was 24th and Kamrin Chizek 25th for the Tritons with 1,011 and 1,010 scores.
Wiegand, a sophomore from Marshalltown, finished the season ranked 35th among all men's collegiate bowlers with an average of 209.
On the women's side, Mount Mercy was crowned champion with a team score of 8,115. The Tritons finished with a total of 6,701. Allison Christenson paced the women with a 756, finishing 55th overall. Madison Ross was 61st with a 734.
Next action for the Tritons will be at the NJCAA National Bowling Championships to be held April 7-9 in Lansing, Mich.
