Tritons begin action at ISC qualifier

DALLAS - The Iowa Central men's bowling team competed in the singles portion of the Intercollegiate Sectional Qualifier here Friday.

The Top-6 finishers advanced to the national round of action that brought together bowlers from the NCAA, NAIA and junior college ranks. The team portion with Baker games goes down Saturday and Sunday with the Top-4 moving on.

Leading the way for the Tritons was Raymond Wiegand, as the sophomore placed 16th overall. Wiegand had a total of 1,162, which ranked first among all junior college bowlers.

Alec Keplinger of Wichita State won singles with a score of 1,277. 

Wiegand had a high-game of 255, which he rolled in his sixth and final time on the lanes.

Jordan Pelant was 22nd overall for Iowa Central with a 1,140. He had a high-game of 244 and was in the Top-6 after the first three rounds. 

Dale Weaver finished in 44th overall with a 1,088, Jacob Kraft was 76th with 1,042, Nathan Hansen 95th with a 1,016 and Justin Graves 113th with a 979. Mason Stokes (118th/973) and Kamrin Chizek (123rd/964) were also in action among the nearly 150 bowlers. 

Nationals are set for May 5-8 in Wyoming, Michigan.
