Tritons open the season on the lanes

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Iowa Central bowling team opened their season here at the Golden Eagles Invitational this past weekend.

The Triton women finished fifth out of nine teams, with the men placing 11th out of 22. Saint Xavier won both team titles.

Iowa Central fired a 7,668 led by an 870 from Korrissa Johnson. She had games of 173-182-160-155-200. Olivia Nolte followed with an 865 (182-135-169-187-192), while Samantha Wangen had an 864 series (187-186-173-192-126. 

Abby Price rolled a 710, Madelynn Kropp a 515, Madisyn Gerdts a 471, Alexie Little a 494 and Leah Sanck a 299. 

On the men's side, the Tritons had a team total of 8,642 led by a 1,240 series from Jordan Pelant. He had games of 192-211-203-206-243-185. Mason Stokes had a 1,212 (182-227-170-225-214-194), Derek Rucker a 1,200 (212-179-214-184-233-178) and Justin Graves a 1,189 (184-212-181-169-242-201). Mason Will (494), Dale Weaver (301) and Dalton Hout (234) were also in action. 

"Day one of the tournament went great for our first time out," Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden said. "Day two, we found out our weaknesses and we will work on those items this week in practice to get ready for this coming weekend."

Iowa Central heads to the 50th annual Midwest Collegiate Championships in Milwaukee.
