Iowa Central sets record at Leatherneck Classic

The Iowa Central men's bowling team set a new school record here during action at the Leatherneck Classic.

The Tritons recorded the highest six-game total score in school history with 5,976 to place 18th with the Iowa Central women coming in 25th overall with a total of 5,261. 

William Penn claimed the bracket title on the men's side and Mount Mercy for the women. 

Dale Weaver placed 36th overall with a score of 1,265 including a high game of 253. Justin Graves was 51st and Jacob Kraft 76th.

Madisyn Gerdts was 67th with a total of 1,101 that included a 209 game. Cassie Lee finished 143rd and Olivia Nolte was 160th.

The Iowa Central men had a total score of 8,966 after Baker's and the women a 7,875. 

"We still need to clean up some spare shooting," Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden said. "However, the team chemistry was the best this year and that really makes a huge difference in the competition arena."

The Tritons will close out the 2021 portion of their schedule at the Warhawk Open in Addison, Illinois December 4-5. They return in 2022 at the ISBPA/Kegel Midwest Collegiate Classic, also in Addison.
