Weaver earns Top-30 finish at sectionals

DALLAS - The Iowa Central bowling team started play in the USBC Sectionals here on Friday with singles.

On the men's side, Dale Weaver led the way, finishing 30th overall. He had games of 148, 176, 200, 204, 221 and 216 for a total of 1,165. Derek Rucker was 37th with a total of 1,165 that included a high-game of 221.

Mason Stokes was 120th, Braedon Gehrke 124th, Justin Graves 143rd, Mason Will 144th and Jacob Kraft 148th.

C.J. Petrin of Oklahoma Christian was the singles winner with Nick Larsen of Webber International, Tyler Synovec from Newman, Alec Keplinger of Wichita State, Matthew Mesecher of Webber International and James McIver of Newman advancing through.

Cassie Lee was the top finisher for the Triton women, placing 60th. Victoria Potter was right behind in 63rd with Abby Price finishing 67th in singles.

Lee had a score of 1,057 with games of 165, 127, 175, 217, 171 and 202. Potter was just a pin behind that and had a high-game of 215.

Olivia Nolte finished 94th, Abigayle Clark 97th, Madisyn Gerdts 98th and Samantha Wangen 99th.

Wichita State's Mary Orf was the singles champion with Madison McCall of Tulane, Kelsie Zanin of Webber International and Stephen F. Austin State bowlers Chloe Skurzynski and Brystal Beyer advancing.

Qualifiers from the four sectionals will advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships, which take place April 20-23 in Addison, Illinois.
