Pair of Top-12 finishes for Tritons at sectionals

DALLAS - The Iowa Central bowling program concluded their season here Sunday at the USBC Sectionals. 

In the team championships, the Triton men placed eighth and the women finished 12th. Iowa Central was the highest-finishing two-year school in both fields, which brought together the top teams in the nation. 

Webber International won the men's title with Sam Houston State taking the women's crown.

Iowa Central continued to climb up the ladder in the men's standings, moving ahead of more teams on Sunday during the final Baker games. The Tritons finished with a team total of 11,785. 

On the women's side, Iowa Central had a score of 10,935. 

"What a year it has been for Triton bowling," said Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden. "Still having to adhere to COVID concerns and close to 11,000 miles traveled to tournaments. It is sad to see the sophomores that are not returning be done, but good luck to them in their futures. 

Competing during the three-day tournament for the men was Braedon Gehrke, Dale Weaver, Derek Rucker, Jacob Kraft, Justin Graves, Marcus Yamada, Mason Stokes and Mason Will. For the women, Abby Price, Abigayle Clark, Cassie Lee, Leah Sanck, Madisyn Gerdts, Olivia Nolte, Samantha Wangen and Victoria Potter.
