Bowling Fares Well at MIBC Tournament, Weber Bowls 300

The Iowa Central Men's and Women's Bowling Teams competed Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15 in the first ever Mid Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament.

The top finisher for the men's team was sophomore Dawson Weber. Weber took second place overall in the individual standings, and with the top-5 finish, earned a spot on the all-tournament team.  Weber bowled a combined five-game score of 1143; bowing a 162 in game one, 245 in game two, a perfect 300 in game three, 213 in game four and 223 in game five.

The Men's JV squad finished in first place in the JV team standings with a combined score of 4707. Men's varsity finished seventh in the varsity standings with a score of 4587.

In women's action, the women's varsity squad finished fifth overall with a combined score of 4209. Leading the women was Alexa Klassen with a 884, finishing 13th overall in the individual women's standings.

Both squads compete in the newly formed Mid Iowa Bowling Conference which includes teams from Coe College, Luther College, Iowa Central, Iowa Western Community College, Waldorf University, University of Nebraska, University of Northern Iowa, Hawkeye Community College, Clarke University, Central Methodist and Wartburg College.

"It is still early in the season," said Triton Head Coach Gregg Haden. "Overall, the weekend went well. We can take eight people on any one tournament team; we are still working on finding the best eight to go together. It's a work in progress and there is always room for improvement."

The Tritons will travel to Wichita, KS next weekend for the MidStates Championships October 21-22.
