Wille Claims Storm Invitational Title

Wille claims Storm Invitational title

Freshman Kyle Wille fired a round of 71 to shoot even-par and claim the Storm Invitational individual title for Iowa Central.

Wille bested Waldorf's Cole Ruckman and Iowa Lakes' Downing Conal, who both shot 72s at 1-over-par for the day.

"Great tournament for us," ICCC head coach Kris Graewin said. "I couldn't be happier for Kyle getting his first collegiate win. He'd struggled a bit this past weekend and really worked hard early this week to get prepared.

Joseph Forsting tied for fourth for the Tritons with a 73. Cody Dirks was 24th with an 80 and Nick Tennis tied for 45th with an 87.

"Joe continues to be a solid force for us this fall," Graewin said. "He's becoming more consistent and is really close to breaking through for an under-par round."

Overall, Iowa Central was third, five shots back of Waldorf and just four back of Iowa Lakes. They bested teams from Central, Simpson, Southwestern, Graceland, Southeastern and Grand View.

"It was great to get all five freshmen some more playing experience," Graewin said. "I liked the way Lane finished his round today and Nick had some struggles but getting him more tournament reps was the goal. Cody Dirks is playing his heart out and that's all I can ask from him.  He continues to put in the work and his scores will be where he wants them to be again."
